This year’s Earth Day theme is “Invest in Our Planet,” and we couldn’t agree more.

Over our 15-year history, Maven Asset Management has been steadfast in its commitment to conserving our planet’s resources through reduced energy consumption and reduced physical waste.

We have seen exciting prioritizations on sustainability continuing within – and outside – our organization.

Last year, Maven’s Matt Midas wrote the article Sustainability: Improve Your Organization and the Planet which highlighted how IBM’s Maximo Asset Management enterprise feature sets can be used as catalysts for improvements in these six specific focus areas of sustainability:

  1. Reduction in Carbon Footprint
  2. Reduction in Energy Costs
  3. Reduction in Facilities Costs
  4. Reduction in Paper Cost
  5. Reduction in Transportation/Logistic Costs
  6. Increase in Customer Retention

In 2022, IBM further prioritized their sustainability commitment by acquiring Envizi Software in their new Sustainability Software Organization. Envizi’s SaaS Software Solution provides analytics, performance, and regulation reporting for environmental performance management.

For over a decade, Envizi has built up its modular platform to enable reporting and management of ESG indicators including energy, greenhouse gases, environmental, and social responsibility metrics.

A sampling of its enterprise product feature sets includes:

  • Drives Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reporting and performance management.
  • Delivers Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emission calculations.
  • Helps organizations prioritize their ESG performance.
  • Supports the reporting of ESG metrics.
  • Enables organizations to implement an auditable approach for public ESG reporting.
  • Drives energy efficiency improvements and optimizes the performance of buildings.
  • Simplifies the consolidation, analysis, and management of internal and external siloed data sources to meet sustainability reporting frameworks requirements.
  • Automates the collection and consolidation of 500 data types.
  • Supports major sustainability reporting frameworks including:
    • Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)
    • Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
    • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
    • Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and more.

The focus on sustainability continues in 2023 with the new release of Maximo Application Suite (MAS) 8.10 which includes a new connector to integrate MAS with Envizi.

Using IBM’s App Connector, location and meter readings from Maximo Manage are sent to Envizi. This enables Envizi to automate tracking of energy usage and calculating related Scope 1 and 2 emissions of Electricity, Natural Gas, and Water.
