Meet Jennifer. She is our Chief Executive Officer.

Jen started working as a contract software developer in her teens, where she first found her way into the Operational Technology (OT) world, the early stages of industrial networking, and eventually Maximo and EAM. She has been working with Maximo for about 20 years.

The best thing about Maven is that each day, we take on new challenges and continue to grow and improve. She has seen that growth in herself and in each member of the team. Jen is excited about the possibilities ahead because she sees how well the Maven team works together to sharpen one another’s skills.

If you had asked Jen who she thought she’d be 10 years ago, she is the first to tell you that her life is nothing like what she thought it would be, but she wouldn’t change it for anything. Ten years ago, she was a new mom with far more questions than answers, and she had no idea what to expect. She has had to make a lot of adjustments. She was a software developer and very technology focused. She also liked to be able to control her environment and really liked peace and quiet. With two boys, she can now laugh at herself for that – she’s not even sure she remembers what that is like! Now, she is learning how to balance being a good parent with being a good business leader. She may not always get it right, but each day is a new opportunity to do a little better.

Jen’s boys inspire her to be strong and work hard. When she’s tired, she knows they’re counting on her to keep going. Interestingly, part of that strength is letting them see that she is not perfect and that finding the right answers is a process – it doesn’t happen automatically.

Speaking of a process, Maven is putting the final touches on an analytics tool to help clients make the most of Maximo. Based on actual data, it identifies strengths and opportunities for improvement, helping to find quick wins and chart a path forward in asset management maturity. Jen is excited about the clean and simple way that it helps our clients to plan and measure their progress.

After a few very uncertain years, the world is moving forward again. That in itself is exciting. Even better, we’ve had a chance to challenge assumptions and evaluate our priorities. We’re identifying which parts of the pre-pandemic world we want to bring back and what we’d rather leave behind. We’re learning that work and life aren’t two isolated silos, but they must fit together. Most of us enjoy work that is challenging, and even time-consuming – but only if it supports the rest of our life. As a parent, an employee, and an employer, Jen is working through these changes alongside everyone else, and is committed to making Maven a model for that balance.

We have asked Jennifer to share five more things you may or may not have known about her.

  1. What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13? If you wait until you have all the answers, you’ll never get started.
  2. If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? To clone myself without repercussions.
  3. What is something you learned recently? The city of Austin, TX has a real bat cave. The Congress Avenue Bridge is home to thousands of bats that fly out nightly. Tourists flock there at sunset to watch the bats, and the city even hosts an annual BatFest. I’ve been there many times and didn’t realize this until I was in town recently for the Maximo Utility Working Group (MUWG) conference.
  4. What is your #1 pet peeve? People who won’t answer a question when there is no safe answer. Oh wait… that’s me.
  5. If you were a crayon, what color would you be? I’d be one of those DIY melted and remolded crayons. I’d get to be a different color every day.

Fun fact: Jen has the utmost respect for Indra Nooyi after reading her memoir, My Life in Full, and appreciates her calm, humble, and humorous approach to life.
